With these two added to a top-heavy group of holdovers featuring Lucas Digne, Richarlison, and burgeoning English striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton strove for a quick return to their historical success. While the club fielded their most interesting team in years, the world around them was falling apart. The coronavirus pandemic forced the stands to empty and the world into lockdown.
